The most recent MBBPC meeting was held on Thursday July 23. Some highlights of the meeting:
- On July 16, committee members including BikePgh representation met with Kathryn Power, Penn DOT District 11 Safety Engineer, at the Grant St./E. Ohio St. intersection to consider how to make the intersection safer and more bike-friendly. The main concern was the proper placement of signage and sharrows to direct bike traffic through the intersection. Kathryn asked us to create a plan for Penn DOT to consider, which we did on July 23. The plan will be submitted to the Millvale Borough Council for approval, and then sent to Ms. Power.
- We considered our options for installation of sharrows along Grant St. and North Ave. Hopefully a contractor will be engaged by the end of next month.
- The ARTEZ TAP (Transportation Alternative Program) will provide approximately $54,000 to Millvale for infrastructure improvements to promote bicycle and pedestrian safety and convenience. Options are under consideration.
- The BikePgh Confident Cycling class will be offered again during Millvale Days this fall. Details will follow.
